Thursdays fortnightly, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
The Music Appreciation Group (No.34) has been in existence for over twenty years, and is technically full at the moment. But we welcome new members when they ring up, and if there is room. It is not a “casual” meeting group.
We meet in our home and the average number at any one meeting is 22 or 23.
Time : 2 pm to 4 pm, with a break for tea at 3 pm, alternate Thursdays, excluding July and August.
Start date after the Christmas period, and at the beginning of September, after the break period, is advised at the appropriate meeting time.
The music presented is “classical” – say all periods from 1600 to present day. Emphasis is probably Classical and Romantic. No jazz or Reggie, etc, music is played.
The group is asked for suggestions for the topic to be covered and it is agreed by the co-ordinator whose collection of CD’s is adequate for most suggestions. The topic to be covered is chosen to extend for 5 to 6 sessions so that the pattern of the subject is developed in some way. It is not a mixed / variable / haphazard list of works.
No special knowledge needed other than a love of music.
The group leader, Colin, does the presenting but occasionally a member will be asked to present.
