Proposed Constitution 2021

The constitution has not been updated since 2014, and a few things need changing.

We need to update the objects that should have changed in 2018, remove contradictions, clarify responsibilities, force trustees to be re-elected every year, change the allowed tenure of the trustees to nine years in three three year periods, make trustees change roles every three years, reduce the membership period of grace from three to two months, clarify the notice periods for nominations to the committee, make the trustees wholly responsible for setting membership fees, allow electronic record keeping, allow virtual or electronic meetings and communications, have written bye-laws or standing orders.

The steps are:

    1. Obtain Third Age Trust approval for the proposed changes;
    2. Obtain Charity Commission approval for changes to the Objects;
    3. Obtain approval at a u3a Dacorum General meeting, usually the AGM, which should be on August 2nd.
