Science & Technology

St John’s Church Hall, Boxmoor, HH
Last Wednesday, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

All members of our U3A are welcome to these meetings. No previous scientific knowledge is necessary, just a curiosity about what is currently happening in our ever-changing world. If you have queries about any of the topics please call one of the coordinators. In January we attracted one of our biggest ever audiences ever with a fascinating talk on the Surveillance Society and what the large internet/social media companies get up to with all our data.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ATTENDING MEETINGS

1. Before attending please ensure you have read and conform with the member-self-assessment https://u3adacorum.org/member-self-assessment/ .

2. We would prefer that all attendees should have had their two vaccinations, but we shall not be asking for proof. Alternatively a negative Lateral Flow Test within 48 hours of the meeting. Again, we shall not be asking for any proof.

3. When you attend, please wear a mask until you are seated.

4. We will be using both halls with the partition removed to give you more space. So if you have hearing difficulties please sit near the front.

5. You need to be aware that windows and doors will be open throughout the meeting to maximise ventilation so dress accordingly.

6. When you sign in you will need to know your membership number. This is so our U3A can contact you should someone subsequently develop Covid or there is any other incident, in spite of all the precautions. Your signature will also confirm that you have read the member self assessment (see link at paragraph 1).

7. The fee has been increased to £2. Please use the hand gel before you put your money into the box. Please bring a pen or pencil so you can sign in with minimum contact.

8. At the end of the session could you please wipe your chair with the material provided before stacking them. We may need to clean all tables and equipment we have used so your help would be appreciated at the end of the meeting.

9. If you wish to have a drink/biscuits at the mid-session break please bring your own (with mugs) as we shall not be providing them for the first few meetings.
