{"id":4321,"date":"2020-10-02T12:50:15","date_gmt":"2020-10-02T11:50:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/u3adacorum.org\/?page_id=4321"},"modified":"2026-04-26T17:14:05","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T17:14:05","slug":"ethos-and-rules","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/u3adacorum.org\/staging\/ethos-and-rules\/","title":{"rendered":"Ethos and Rules"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)\">The u3a movement is non-religious and non-political and has three main principles:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-x-large-font-size\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)\">The Third Age Principle<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Membership of a u3a is open to all in their third age, which is defined not by a particular age but by a period in life in which full time employment has ceased.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Members promote the values of lifelong learning and the positive attributes of belonging to a u3a.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Members should do all they can to ensure that people wanting to join a u3a can do so.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-x-large-font-size\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)\">The Self-help Learning Principle<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Members form interest groups covering as wide a range of topics and activities as they desire; by the members, for the members.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No qualifications are sought or offered.
