Sacred Heart Church Meeting Room, Park St, Berkhamsted
Please remember to log in your car registration details on arrival in the building.
Discussion groups are at the heart of U3A, bringing together people with shared interests and lively, enquiring minds. Members exchange ideas, debate current affairs, explore history, philosophy, science, literature and many other subjects in a friendly, respectful atmosphere. There are no exams or formal lectures—just enjoyable conversation where everyone has the opportunity to contribute, listen and learn. Good discussion stimulates the mind, broadens perspectives and often leads to lasting friendships.
Each Month we discuss a main topic led by one of the members. Details are circulated so that members can research the topic if they wish! In addition or as an alternative we may discuss a couple of lighter topics.
This group has about 12 regular members. Recently we have discussed some serious topics such as the Israel/Palestine conflict, Culture Wars, Climate Change and Liberal Democracy. We also include some lighter matters in our programme such as the shape of Britain now, if York had been the capital, not London and what could be achieved with absolute power.
