The u3a movement originated in France and extends worldwide. There are over one thousand individual u3as in the UK, all represented and supported by the Third Age Trust, which is an excellent place to see how diverse we all are, just within the UK. They also have a member link.

To read their Advice pages, you must register and log in. To do this, scroll right down to the bottom right of the link page.

Online Events

The u3a have launched a number of online events. These cover a wide range of topics from plate tectonics to snowdrops and from Japanese to maths.

u3a Radio

If you wish to listen to the u3a radio podcasts, then listen here on YouTube.

u3a communities

This is a free online platform which offers all U3A members with inquiring minds the opportunity to take part in regular, lively meetings on a range of different topics.

Other Organisations

Within Hemel Hempstead the other main community learning organisation is the Frogmore Paper Mill in Apsley, which is an industrial heritage visitor and education centre, housing the world’s first commercial paper making machine, offering learning, tours and activities to adults, families and school groups. Among many other things, they provide hands-on computer courses.
