Outside Risk Assessment 2025

This checklist is to help in the planning for an outside activity. It isn’t an exhaustive list, so think carefully about any specific risks you may encounter. It is likely that you will need to add to this risk assessment checklist. This form can (and should) be altered to suit specific activity requirements.
Where you identify a particular risk, you should note the action you will take to reduce that risk. It’s important to carry out a risk assessment before the activity takes place, and you can always add to this during the activity itself.

Please select 'Yes', 'No', or 'NA' with the radio buttons for each question.

When you have completed the form, a send button will appear. After sending, you should receive an acknowledgement that contains the information that you sent.

Replies will be forwarded to the registered Group Coordinator.

    General:

Are the overall numbers attending manageable for the activity?

Will there be a nominated leader for the activity?

Will attendees be advised in advance of items to bring? (Water bottle, boots, clothing, etc)

    Assembling

Will the meeting point have access to refreshments, toilets and cover?

Is the meeting point a safe space, easy to access and easy to find?

Will the Activity Leader check a list of attendees before starting?

    Activity

If moving around, has an assessment of the route been made, and will attendees be made aware of any physical limitations? (Distance, climbs, etc)

Will attendees be advised to notify the Leader, if leaving the activity before the end?

There may be reasons why additional conditions may have to be taken into consideration when completing this risk assessment. What additional measures or changes will you need to make for each identified hazard in order to reduce risks involved in running the activity?

    Other Identified Risks

What will you do to mitigate these risks?

Please answer the security question. Use single word answers.
