U3A Monthly meetings in 2021 on Zoom
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions all the U3A Dacorum Monthly meetings will be Virtual and held via Zoom.
Here are the dates for the next few months- Meetings are generally held on the first Monday of the month, but may be later due to Bank Holidays etc.
Note all Zoom meetings will open from 10AM , with the speaker Presentation starting promptly at 10:30AM.
The Zoom link details will be made available to U3A Dacorum members later.
March 1st Fool’S Gold – Acoustic Music
Musicians Carol and Steve Robson play a mixture of Original and well known music on a wide variety of instruments including guitar, bouzouki , flute and keyboard.
Their performances are themed and are accompanied by visual projections .
April 12th Speaker Simon Gregor
Simon is a Cambridge history graduate who talks on a wide range of historical topics including Germany from 1918 – 1945 and World War One, he also runs walking tours of London. Today he will telling us about the life of a family living in Prague in the Twentieth Century.
May 10th – Speaker Roger Browne
Roger’s talk today is “The King’s Tiger Rag “
This is the story of when the Original Dixieland Jazz Band (ODJB) visited Britain in 1919.
The first time that live Jazz had been performed in the UK and is the story of Cornetist Nick La Roca who formed the ODJB. When the OSJB came to the UK the band played fro King George V at Buckingham Palace.
June 7th Speaker John Hope
Extra Time – John tells how he and his wife fled the Tsunami in Sri Lanka in 2004 when 40,000 people lost their live. John had a 10year career in the RAF and was involved in active service twice – in Suez and in Sarawak during the little-know about war with Indonesia
